Event Details
Every Voice and Platform Youth Hub are excited to host the award winning documentary Generation Revolution. The film introduces the powerful stories of London’s new generation of black and brown activists, exploring the successes and unexpected challenges these inspiring young people face. Motivated by the desire for a more equal future, they embark on the rewarding but difficult path that must be trodden in their struggle for liberation.
It will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with the directors Usayd and Cassie; Every Voice; Shareefa from YStop; Chair of Islington Stop and Search Community Monitoring Group; the previous Vice Chief Exec & Head of Equalities at Islington Council and members of Islington’s community sector. There’ll also be an informal workshop on Stop and Search led by YStop
The film has been featured at Sheffield Doc Fest; Pan African Film Festival; East End Film Festival and Baltimore Black Film Festival.
Every Voice fights race inequality in Islington and London wide. We run Islington’s Race Equality Forum and host quarterly thematic events, which bring together practitioners; the council and Islington’s community sector to address issues affecting Islington’s BAME communities. Our first theme for 2017 is Youth and we’ve therefore partnered with Platform Youth Hub to screen this important documentary to young people in the borough; hear their stories and connect them to advice and services that can support them: www.everyvoice.org.uk

The screening is open to all. There’ll be food, entertainment and networking to follow. We especially encourage anyone who works with young people or with local community projects to attend and share their thoughts.
It’s free for anyone under 19
Standard entry = £5
Student / Not in employment / parents of young people = £3
All proceeds go towards more Every Voice youth events and further Generation Revolution screenings.
